What are Electronic Cigarettes?
Electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes, e-cigs or personal vapourisers, are devices designed to simulate the feeling of smoking, without the harmful effects of burning tobacco. An electronic cigarette looks and feels like a normal cigarette, and allows users to maintain their nicotine intake without smoking cigarettes. An electronic cigarette consists of a battery, atomiser, and cartridge. When you “smoke” or draw on the cartridge, the battery heats the atomiser. This in turn heats the liquid contained in the cartridge. As the liquid is heated it emits a vapour containing nicotine, this vapour feels and looks similar to smoke. The liquid in the cartridge contains nicotine at differing strengths. A no-nicotine option is also available.
What are the benefits of using an Electronic Cigarette?
What is in the cartridge?
Cartridges contain a liquid composed of water, nicotine, propylene glycerol and flavouring. Propylene glycerol is a widely used colourless, odourless liquid that can also be found in food flavourings, asthma inhalers, cough medicines and cosmetics.
Please note that nicotine is a highly addictive substance, and as such we do not recommend that non-smokers use electronic cigarettes. Nicotine is also a toxin, and it is extremely important that all products containing nicotine are kept in a secure place, away from children and pets.
How long does a cartridge last?
Each DSE-901 (mini) cartridge is generally equivalent to 6 or 7 cigarettes. A 20 a day cigarette smoker, will on average consume 3 DSE-901cartridges per day. DSE-084 (super-mini) cartridges are smaller, and an average user would use 3 to 5 per day. A DSE-801 (penstyle) cartridge is larger and an average user would usually use 2 to 3 per day.
Whilst other electronic cigarette websites may state a single cartridge is the equivalent of 20 cigarettes, we believe this is overly optimistic, and prefer not to mislead our customers.
How long do the batteries last?
Mini (DSE-901) batteries charge in about 2 - 2.5 hours, and last about 4 hours. Battery life will vary depending how much the e-cigarette is used. Super-mini batteries will last about 1.5 hours, and Penstyle (DSE-801) batteries last 5 to 6 hours.
What warranty do you offer?
We test all batteries to ensure they’re working before sending orders out. Should any item stop working within 15 days of receiving your order, you can return it to us for a refund or replacement. You are also entitled to return any order within 7 working days of receipt under the European Union Distance Selling Act.
Electronic cigarette atomisers and batteries are considered as consumable parts, and depending on amount of use, have an average life-span of 30 to 60 days. It is recommended to keep some extra spare parts to hand in case of failure of a part, especially if you intend using e-cigarettes as a complete replacement for tobacco cigarettes.
Can I use an Electronic Cigarette to quit smoking?
While many people report successfully giving up cigarettes by using e-cigarettes, it should be noted that the electronic cigarette is not an approved smoking cessation device. It is simply an alternative to tobacco cigarettes.
Who should not use Electronic Cigarettes?
E-cigarettes contain nicotine, and as such should not be used by:
Can I use an Electronic Cigarette in public places?
As e-cigarettes do not burn tobacco, they can legally be used in places where smoking is banned. If you intend using an e-cigarette in public places such as pubs, nightclubs etc, you might prefer to order a black model – it's less likely to be confused with a real cigarette. Please note that it is up to the owner or manager of the establistment to decide if they will allow e-smoking on the premises. Generally though we have found non-smokers and smokers alike to be quite accepting of electronic cigarettes, once the concept has been explained.
